CAN YOU TRUST THE BIBLE?
In a world where every thing seems to be going the direction of materialism and skepticism how can it be possible that a Book that is thousands of years old still be applicable to our lives in the 2000`s.
Is it just a book with great stories that teach wonderful moral lessons and that is it!?
Can it still speak to me personally today in a world where 'knowledge and transposrt has increased drastically?'.(Daniel 12:4)
Do I still need the Bible? After all there are so many books now in the world; who needs the Bible any way?
It is a pity how many people so easily swallow some one’s theory based upon personal opinion and often lack of information and they don’t question it! In turn, very often you discover that these are the kind of people that hear the Bible and they question every thing!
This is a remarkable fact but understandable in some ways!
Many don’t like to be challenged and be told straight forward the pure honest truth because they know that the moment they come face to face with TRUTH, especially God’s Truth they feel a sense of quilt and conviction by the Holy Spirit to Change.
Many of course don’t like to be changed, not even by God Himself, and rather they prefer to remain in a life style of sin, which as the Bible says, "It`s pleasurable for a season!".
They look for others of the same mind set who rather they tell them the truth and what they need to hear, they look for some one who tells them what they want to hear. It is exactly as God says in the Bible, that many will prefer to accumulate teachers for themselves who would tell them what they want to hear to tickle their ears and their pat-ego, rather than tell them the truth!
2 Timothy 4:3-5, "For the time will come ( and this time is here now in the 2000) when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires; and will turn away their ears from the truth, and will turn aside to myths." NAS
If you have only had a religion of convenience experience in your life where there is no true Risen Jesus still healing, delivering, saving and filling people with the Holy Spirit, than any question raised against the Word of God will shake you, but once you have an encounter with the Risen Lord and Savior, Son of The Living God, you will never have fear of disputing and discrediting the foolishness of human kind!
Unfortunately controversial books which try to discredit the Word of God will always be around and surely, they will be a stumbling block to many. Many of these people will even be "religious so-called Christian leadership", but mark my words, the majority of those people have never had an experience and a relationship or an encounter with Jesus and seen His Miraculous working power as it describes it in the Bible. Experiences where people are raised from the Dead, the Blind are made to see, the deaf hear, and the demon oppressed/possessed are delivered and set free, not by man’s wisdom but by the Holy Spirit Power of God, all in the might name of Jesus!...(and in many denominationalised "so-called churches" especially the ones that are tradition immersed churches, the Holy Spirit is just a sweet picture of a white innocent dove on the wall!)
"An my Message to you was not in persuasive words of men’s wisdom, but in and with the Holy Spirit of God, so that your faith should not rest of the wisdom of men, but on the Power of God’s Holy Spirit"

Acts 2:22-25, "Men of Israel, listen to these words: Jesus the Nazarene, a man attested to you by God with miracles and wonders and signs which God performed through Him in your midst, just as you yourselves know- this Man, delivered up by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, you nailed to a cross by the hands of godless men and put Him to death. "And God raised Him up again, putting an end to the agony of death, since it was impossible for Him to be held in its power. NAS

"I have been talking to you about a Book that is set apart from all the other books in the world. This Book is the collection of sacred Scriptures, sometimes referred to as the Holy Bible or the Word of God. Some also call it the Sacred Writings of the Prophets or the Living Word, for it is the only Book that has in it the authentic Words of Life (John 6:63, 68; 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:19-21). All these names refer to the same thing. It is the most translated book in all the history of mankind and the most read of all books! It has stood the test of time even though many have tried to destroy it. In fact, all those that have attempted to “snuff out” the Word of God have been “snuffed out” themselves. They are passed away, returned to dust, and forgotten today, while the Holy Bible continues to speak to people of all tongues and cultures, having transcended the barriers of time. My friend, this is the Book of God! It is where we find all of Who Jesus is, all that He did, all that He is still doing, what others said about Him and what He said about Himself.
Intense archeological research has proven the Bible to be trustworthy in historical and geographical matters. The Holy Scriptures have been scrutinized by scholars for 2,000 years and have been found reliable. They are backed up by more manuscript findings than any other ancient document. Many researchers, who set out to make discoveries about the Bible with the intention of discrediting this unique Book, have ended up becoming hardcore believers in the Word themselves because of the overwhelming evidence that exists in favor of its validity.
One of the most notable of these was Sir William Ramsay. He was an atheist, coming from a family of atheists; he was wealthy, highly educated and a Ph.D.from Oxford. He gave his whole life over to archaeology and determined that he would disprove the Bible. He set out for the Holy Land and decided to disprove the Book of Acts. After over twenty five years, during which time he had already released several books, he was incredibly impressed by the accuracy of Luke in
his writings and declared that Luke was exact, down to the minutest details. In his journey that he had set out to try to disprove the Bible, Sir William Ramsay uncovered hundreds of things which confirmed over and over again the accurate historicity of the Book of Acts.
Finally, in one of his books he shocked the critical world by declaring himself to be a Christian and like others preceeding him, received for himself the Divine Love of Christ that forever changed the course of his life and eternity.
Through the centuries, several literary scholars tried to tare the Bible apart by what is known as the higher critical school which started in Europe. Their conclusions were simply based upon literary presuppositions. This did not take God by surprise, thus the word of Christ became reality as ‘the stones began to cry out’ (Luke 19:40).
The spades of the archaeologists have uncovered innumerable facts that confirm the Holy Scriptures. Over twenty-five thousand sites have been discovered that pertain to the Bible. Records of tens of thousands of individuals and events also have been found including names of people that are specifically mentioned in Bible.
The most recent and continuing testimony of archeology, like all such testimony that has gone before, is definitely and uniformly favorable to the Scripture at its face value, rather than to the Scripture as reconstructed by critics. Dr. William Albright said: “There can be no doubt that archaeology has confirmed the substantial historicity of the Old Testament tradition” (McDowell, Evidence, p.68)
• Voltaire, the noted 18th century French philosopher, said that it took centuries to build up Christianity, but “I will show how just one Frenchman can destroy it within 50 years.” Taking his pen, he dipped it into the ink of unbelief and wrote against God. Twenty years after his death, the Geneva Bible Society purchased his house for printing the Bible and it later became the Paris headquarters for the British and Foreign Bible Society. The Bible is still the world’s best seller; an entire 6-volume set of Voltaire’s works was once sold for 90c. Just before his death, the noted atheist swore: “I wish I had never been BORN!” (Read Romans 1:18-25; 1 Corinthians 1:25, 2:14).
• Charles Dickens once said: “The New Testament is the very best book that ever was or ever will be known in the world”.
• Abraham Lincoln, one of America’s most beloved presidents once said, “I believe the Bible is the best gift God has ever given to man. All the good from the Savior of the world is communicated to us through this book.”
• Dwight D. Eisenhower said, “To read the Bible is to take a trip to a fair land where the spirit is strengthened and faith renewed.”
My beloved friend the number of testimonies that can be mentioned of people all over the world from every background and social status that have been transformed by the words of the Bible are so many that all the libraries of the world will not be enough to contain them.
I have often marveled how I meet so many people who read news papers and magazines and don’t question anything, yet when they read the Bible they question every thing! Is it not a proof in itself that the ones who have tried hard to disprove the existence of God and the Bible are the ones that talk about Him the most? All of these external proofs give us additional confidence in the Book in which God has given the divine revelation of Himself to the human race.
Jesus said thousands of years ago, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will never pass away” (Matthew 24:35). Beloved friend, you are a witness of that prophecy fulfilled.
Do your best to spend time reading the Bible daily, starting with the New Testament. Before I knew Jesus I hardly read any material whatsoever. I hated reading, but everything in my life changed after my salvation, including my reading habits. I immediately started reading the Bible and wouldn’t go anywhere without one. I became determined to know what my Father told me in this awesome Book
